While in Moldova on a visit, Patriarch Kirill of Russia will have a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat. The program was discussed in the September 4 meeting of the organizational committee for preparing the visit of the church official, IPN has learned from the Government’s press service.
On September 7, the Patriarch will officiate at a service at the Chisinau Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth”, will take part in a festivity that will be held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the Bishopric of Chisinau and will visit Capriana Monastery, where he will hold a religious ceremony at the grave of Metropolitan Bishop Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni.
On September 8, His Holiness Kirill will take part in the Holy Liturgy in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth”. The service will be attended by senior officials, representatives of the local public authorities, church officials, and ordinary people. Security filters will be set up in the area in order to maintain public order.
The visit was scheduled for September 7-9. The last time Patriarch Kirill visited Moldova in 2011.
