Patriarch Kirill of Moscow to come to Chisinau

The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill will pay a visit to Moldova in September. The head of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church’s press service Nicolae Carlig confirmed for Info-Prim Neo that the official will come to Chisinau, but said that no details about the visit are yet known. The Patriarch will come to take part in the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the appearance of the first Orthodox ecclesiastical organization in the area between the Prut and the Nistru. It joined all the Orthodox churches of the region under its auspices, creating an autonomous unit. The Transnistrian press reported that the official will visit Tiraspol too and that the visit will be made on September 8-9. Patriarch Kirill had been in Moldova on a visit during October 8-10, 2011. His Holiness officiated at the Saint Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral, blessed the Birth of God’s Mother Cathedral of the Curchi Monastery, visited the pediatric section of the Oncology Institute in Chisinau, and a number of national sights with historical and spiritual value. He had meetings with veterans of World War II and senior officials of Moldova.
