His Holiness Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, is expected to come to Moldova today, September 7. After he visits Chisinau and the Capriana Monastery, he will go to Tiraspol on September 8, IPN reports.
The plane of his Holiness Kirill will land in Chisinau at 14.45. The Patriarch will be met by the Guard of Honor. The program includes a press briefing. Afterward, the official will have a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti at the State Residence situated on Nicolae Iorga St.
At 16.00, Patriarch Kirill will take part in a ceremony that will be he held to mark the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the Bishopric of Chisinau. The ceremony will be held at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”. Afterward, the Patriarch will meet with ex-Premier Vlad Filat, who heads the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, at the State Residence. At 19.00, he will go to the Capriana Monastery, where he will officiate at a service at the grave of Metropolitan Bishop Gavriil Banulescu-Bodoni.
At 09.00 on September 8, His Holiness will hold a Saint Liturgy in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in Chisinau. The service will be attended by representatives of the Moldovan administration, the Orthodox Church and of the Chisinau City Hall. After the service, Patriarch Kirill will address the faithful.
At 12.30, the official will have a meeting with Prime Minster Iurie Leanca at the State Residence, while at 13.00 an official reception will be given at the Palace of the Republic.
At 16.00, His Holiness Kirill will leave for Tiraspol, where he will also hold a service.
On September 9, the Patriarch will meet with residents of Tiraspol in the Suvorov Square. The same day, he will visit the monastery in Chitcani village and the fortress Tighina. At 16.00, he will hold a press briefing in the official delegations hall of the Chisinau International Airport.
