“There is no reason to give a no-confidence vote to the present government – the Communists Party (PCRM) – and endorse its opponents”, declare the representatives of the Socialist Party “Patria-Rodina”, following an analysis of the electoral offers in the ongoing parliamentary race. Patria-Rodina's president Eduard Smirnov told Friday a news conference at Info-Prim Neo that the 'grandiose plans' of the opposition concerning the development of the country were illusory. “They (the opposition) represent the socioeconomic state of affairs in a subjective and clearly untruthful manner, employing unfounded statistical data”, declared Eduard Smirnov. “The pseudo-democrats do not admit the positive changes in the Moldovan economy in those 8 years of Communist government, which are not only statistically attested, but also recognized by international financial organizations”, Smirnov added. “Dumitru Braghis (the leader of the Social Democratic Party), for example, says that 72 percent of Moldova's population live in poverty. We do agree that three-thirds of population face everyday troubles, but we can't say that they live below the poverty line”, said Valentin Krylov, Patria-Rodina's secretary. Krylov also said it was regrettable that almost all the competitors in the parliamentary race, from liberals to social-democrats, offered virtually identical platforms. The representatives of the Socialist Party “Patria-Rodina”, which had stated its intention to endorse the Communists since the beginning of the race, concluded the conference by saying: “today nothing is more important than to preserve political stability, which is guaranteed by the PCRM alone”.
