Passersby support Ilie Cazac's parents who are on hunger strike

Passersby help and encourage Ilie Cazac's parents who went on hunger strike in front of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. Ilie's father Serghei Vinitchii has told Info-Prim Neo that the passersby bring them water, while the people living nearby invite them to take a shower at their home. “We thank the people for their care, but we will not give up. We do not chant as we are peaceful protesters,” Alexandr Vinitchii said. Ilie Cazac's parents went on hunger strike in the hope that the Russian authorities will intervene and help release their son, who was arrested three months ago. After two days of hunger and unbearable heat, the condition of the two has worsened. “My wife is lying. I seat down. We both feel week and exhausted,” said Ilie's father. Doctors of the Russian Embassy told them how to protect themselves from the sun. On Sunday, June 13, Ilie Cazac's parents were visited by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov. Alexandr Vinitchii told him that they are not protected by the police, as the law prescribes. “Police officers told us they will pass by from time to time. We intend to file a complain and even hold a news conference on the issue,” Serghei Vinitchii said. Ilie Cazac's parents said they need the help of the police as on the first night they were intimidated by provokers, who overturned their tent. On the night to Monday, they were frightened by inebriated passersby. Victor Osipov promised that he will soon discuss the given subject with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a meeting. The Russian Embassy will make a related public statement on June 15. Ilie's parents were informed about this by an employee of the Embassy. Stela Surchicean and Alexandr Vinitchii went on hunger strike on June 12. After their approaches and letters asking that their sun be set free remained unheard, the desperate parents decided to go on hunger strike. Ilie Cazac, 24, is an employee of the Bender Tax Inspectorate. He was arrested in March, when he was returning from work. The place where the young man is held is not known. Ilie Cazac is accused of spying for Moldova and betraying the state and faces up to 20 years in jail.
