While the e-ticketing system will be tested in Chisinau, the passengers will be able to pay the fare for the trip in cash to the conductor and by card. Besides the professional duties they had until now, the conductors will also guide the passengers so that they accommodate easier to this new experience, director of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Dorin Chenyi stated for IPN.
The Company is having discussions with the business entity that will install the electronic ticketing devices. In a meeting at the City Hall next week, it will be decided the route on which the e-ticketing system will be piloted and the number of devices that will be installed on the units of transport running on this route.
Dorin Chernyi could not say how long the installation of the electronic ticketing devices will take, but noted that the testing is to start on January 1, 2021, in accordance with the decision taken by the local authorities.
The passengers, as until now, will get onto and out of trolleybuses through all the doors so that crowds do not form at the front door, especially in prime time.
Chisinau Electric Transport Company vice director Vitalie Copaci said that only the project implementation period is known for now. Details will be discussed in a meeting that hasn’t been yet arranged.
The municipal public transport companies during six months will test the e-ticketing system on units of transport. At the piloting stage, e-ticketing will be used on a trolleybus route and a bus route, while the Chisinau Electric Transport Company and the Urban Bus Company will sign contracts with electronic ticketing service providers. The testing includes the installation of the necessary equipment and the training of employees of municipal public transport companies.
