Passengers flying from the Chisinau International Airport to the United Kingdom, even if they check in online, must also go to the check-in counter of the airport to have their ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) checked, before going through security, passport and customs control, the Civil Aviation Authority said, quoted by IPN.
According to the quoted source, the measure is necessary to ensure compliance with the new regulations imposed by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to avoid delays caused by the extra time needed for checks when boarding.
If the person does not have all the necessary documents and they are denied boarding, the airline is not responsible for this situation and will not cover any additional costs.
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, including those who hold Romanian citizenship, starting with April 2, 2025, will have to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in order to enter the UK.
ETA is a new electronic authorization system for travel to the UK. It applies to all citizens without exception. To request the authorization, people can access www.gov.uk/electronic-travel-authorisation, where they can fill in the online application.
