Passenger minibus hit by train
Several passengers of a minibus were hospitalised with diverse traumas after the minibus they travelled on was hit by a train. The accident happened on Sunday, at about 13:00, at the railway crossing near Floreni village, Anenii-Noi district.
Witnesses say the minibus driver, travelling on Chisinau-Floreni route, though decelerated, was not careful enough when crossing the railway. At that moment he was collecting money from the passengers and didn’t notice the approaching train.
Silvia Babara, doctor-coordinator at the Chisinau Emergency Service, told Info-Prim Neo that several passengers were injured, the most seriously injured persons being rushed to the hospital by passers-by. The doctors on the ambulance gave them the first aid and transported to the hospital three victims – a girl, 9, with right leg bone fracture, a young man, 19, - with femur and right leg bone fracture, and a woman, 44 – with cerebral concussion. The minibus was destroyed and the case is investigated by the Police.
The same day, a fire broke out in the basement of the “Mihai Eminescu” lyceum. A 25-year-old teacher, who tried to neutralise the fire, got I-II level burns on 4 percent of his face and respiratory tracts and suffered carbon monoxide poisoning.
A young man, 28, was stabbed by unidentified persons at about 21:00, on Muncesti roadway.
Over the last day and night, the Chisinau Emergency Service registered 660 calls, including 100 cases of trauma, and four brain strokes.
