A Chisinau man has been hospitalized with injuries sustained in a traffic accident that occurred this morning on Sarmisegetuza Street. It is believed that the taxi driver giving the man a ride dozed off before hitting a van.

Chisinau Police spokesperson Natalia Stati told IPN the 112 call was received at around 5AM. The taxi was driven by a 47-year-old man and the other driver was a 65-year-old man. Alcohol tests at the scene revealed neither of them had been drinking prior to the accident.

A criminal investigation is under way to establish all the circumstances of the crash.
