A man aged 26 died in a road accident in Sangereii Noi village of Sangerei district in the evening of June 23. According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, the man was an occupant of a motorcycle that collided head-on with a vehicle, IPN reports.
The accident happened on the main street of the village. The 24-year-old driver of the motorbike accelerated and changed lanes, colliding head-on with a car driven by a co-villager aged 21.
As a result of the impact, the motorcycle passenger suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to the Sangerei District Hospital, where he died shortly afterward. The injured driver was admitted to the Balti Municipal Hospital.
The police established that the man who drove the motorcycle didn’t have a diver’s license, while the unit of transport wasn’t registered as required.
The National Patrolling Inspectorate said 115 motorcycle accidents occurred on the national roads in the first five months of this year. They resulted in eight deaths.
