Pasha Parfeni to perform 18th at Eurovision final

Moldova’s representative at the Eurovision Suing Contest 2023, Pasha Parfeni, will compete under No. 18 in the May 13 Liverpool Grand Final with the song “The Sun and the Moon”, IPN reports.

The running order for the Grand Final is: Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Serbia, France, Cyprus, Spain, Sweden, Albania, Italia, Estonia, Finland, the Czech Republic, Australia, Belgium, Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, Norway, Germany, Lithuania, Israel, Slovenia, Croatia, and the UK.

In total, 26 acts will perform at Saturday’s final, including the so-called “big five” made up of host country UK, plus France, Germany, Italy and Spain. They all get a free pass to the main show because of their broadcaster’s financial contributions to the event. Ukraine also automatically qualifies because rap-folk band Kalush Orchestra won last year’s competition held in Turin, Italy, with their song “Stefania.” The UK plays host instead of Ukraine.

In 2012, Pasha Parfeni competed in Eurovision in Baku with the song “The Fiddler” and finished eleventh out of 26 contenders.

Moldova has taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2005. The best result so far was obtained by the band SunStroke Project with “Hey, Mamma!” in 2017 – the third place. In the contest last year, the band Zdob și Zdub and the Advahov Brothers’ Orchestra ranked seventh with “The Little Train”.
