Maia Sandu’s Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) has announced it will vote for the Socialist Party’s nominee for Parliament Speaker. This was decided earlier this evening at a meeting of the party’s governing body by a 46 to 1 vote.
“Today the PAS National Political Council (...) has taken a difficult decision in order to unblock the existing political situation and offer Moldova a legitimate and democratic government. The PAS Council has decided to assume an ACUM government and adopt the entire de-oligarchization package following the endorsement of a Speaker proposed by PSRM. The decision is not based on having trust in the Socialists or on any sort of partnership with them, but it is the only feasible solution for stopping the dictator from seizing control of the country for the next ten years, if not more. We hope this decision will be shared by our ACUM partners, the DA Party, as well. We reiterate that any decisions that we will take will be only in the interest of freeing our citizens from terror and destitution”, PAS posted to its official Facebook page.
