President-elect Maia Snadu said the parliamentary group of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) will table a motion of no confidence against the Cabinet if Prime Minister Ion Chicu does not tender the Cabinet’s resignation the next few days, IPN reports.
“If we do not see the Cabinet’s resignation the next few days, the PAS colleagues from Parliament will most probably present a no confidence motion against the Government,” Maia Sandu stated in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel.
Asked how such an exercise can end when there is no majority that would vote for the dismissal of the Chicu Government in Parliament, the politician said there are a number of parties in the legislative body that say they are for snap parliamentary elections, while the removal of the Cabinet is one of the methods leading to snap elections.
“We hear those from other political parties, especially the Socialists, speaking about the fact that they want snap elections and are looking for solutions. We offer them the simplest solution – the shortest path to snap elections. We do what we can and also mounted protests to repeat this demand and those who are in Parliament should realize that these are Igor Dodon’s games. We will continue to do our best and I’m sure that we will have snap parliamentary elections, in the nearest future I hope,” stated Maia Sandu.
She noted that together with the calling of snap legislative elections, Moldova could benefit from foreign support.
“We insisted on snap parliamentary elections namely because we want to gain again access to external financing as swiftly as possible. The longer is this period, the later will be the snap legislative elections held and the late will come the external financing. I also refer to budget support as, owing to the irresponsible actions of the PSRM and of those from the Shor Party, other programs for the development of communities are also in danger,” said the President-elect.
