The MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity propose raising the allowances for persons with disabilities who took part in the Nistru war, the Chernobyl cleanup or World War II by 550 lei as from this October. A legislative proposal to this effect was presented for public debates, IPN reports.
The chairman of the Parliament’s commission on social protection, health and family Dan Perciun, PAS MP, said the allowances for the veterans who fought for the integrity of the Republic of Moldova and in Afghanistan, for the living spouses and also for the rehabilitated victims of the political repression of 1917-1990 will be increased by 250 de lei. Over 30,000 people will benefit from higher allocates. The measure will be implemented at a cost of over 36 million lei this year.
PAS MP Boris Marcoci noted that he was one of those who in 1992 fought for the independence of the Republic of Moldova. More than 30,000 police officers, service members and civilians took part in the Nistru war. Over 370 persons were killed on the battlefield, while 400 remained with different disabilities. The MP called on the veterans to go to the local social insurance houses and ask for a free sanatorium ticket to which they are entitled for treatment once in three years.
