PAS should withdraw its candidate for MP in Hâncești in favor of Grigore Cobzac, opinion

To overcome the currently embarrassing situation for the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), the candidate fielded by this party, Olesea Stamate, should choose the right moment and withdraw her candidacy from the campaign prior to the new parliamentary elections in Hâncești constituency in favor of independent candidate Grigore Cobzac, stated former Deputy Prime Minister Alexandru Muravschi. According to him, Olesea Stamate has few chances of obtaining a good score in these elections compared with other registered candidates, IPN reports.

Alexandru Muravschi noted that Olesea Stamate should withdraw and should urge the supporters of the PAS to vote for Grigore Cobzac. “Given the previous experience and the character of the PAS president Maia Sandu, if the politician does not take such a step, we can say that this person is unable to judge by the conjuncture and the interests of the own voters,” Alexandru Muravschi stated in the talk show “Key Issue” on NTV Moldova channel.

Journalist Valery Demidetskii said there is such a practice in world politics when candidates are chosen not for their professionalism, but for their loyalty to the party and many politicians take this aspect into account as a good specialist can later become an opponent of the party. The PAS’s decision to field Olesea Stamate for MP in Hâncești even if it had a powerful party member in the region, who achieved a good result in this constituency in the previous elections, points to a serious struggle inside the party.

The journalist also noted that there are too many candidates of the right running in the elections in Hâncești.
