PAS proposes bill to ensure protection of state property from dubious investments

The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) suggested a legislative proposal that would ensure the facilities of importance for state security are not brought under the control of oligarchs. The bill provides that the state will be able to intervene when a private business entity will intend to pass on the concession rights to another entity, IPN reports.

PAS leader Maia Sandu said the bill amends the legal framework so that the enterprises, facilities and areas of strategic importance for Moldova are protected from dubious investments. “I refer especially to such facilities as the Chisinau International Airport, Moldtelecom, data storage and protection, railway transport and many other facilities of national importance and of importance for the security of the Republic of Moldova, some of which were taken over in time by suspicious, anonymous persons,” the politician told a news conference.

According to her, the proposed regulations would prevent transactions similar to those related to the Chisinau International Airport, Air Moldova and other companies.

MP Sergiu Litvinenko said the bill provides for the defining of the strategic areas and areas of importance for state security. It bans offshore companies from taking part in the privatization of public property if this is of importance for national security and stipulates bans for those who had been involved in cases of corruption.

The bill will be proposed for public debates and will be then introduced into Parliament.
