The MPs of the group of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) of the ACUM Bloc ask to call a Parliament sitting for May 29 so as to adopt a number of bills needed for accessing the EU macro-financial assistance, IPN reports.
In a news conference, MP Mihail Popșoi said the EU wants to help the Republic of Moldova by offering assistance in favorable conditions. “But the Socialist MPs see that the necessary votes exist in Parliament and try to delay the adoption of those bills. This is shameful as the country really needs money for salaries, pensions. We know very well not only about that gap of almost 20 billion lei, but also about the declining amounts collected into the budget,” stated the MP.
According to Mihail Popșoi, this is irresponsibility and incompetence. The bills should be adopted as soon as possible so that the 600 million lei is disbursed swiftly.
The group’s chairman Igor Grosu said about a week remained for satisfying the conditions for obtaining the second tranche of the macro-financial assistance. “Today we made a request to the Parliament Speaker, asking to call a plenary sitting for tomorrow so as to further examine the agenda approved at the previous sitting. Yes, we are concerned about the epidemiological situation. All the MPs did the test and two tested positive. But if the doctors, police officers, border police officers and other frontline personnel had behaved like us, the MPs, and had isolated themselves fully, imagine what would have happened in our state,” said the MP.
According to Igor Grosu, the condition to institute penalties for money laundering and terrorism financing was fulfilled last week. The adoption of the law on NGOs is another condition. The state should also receive a progress report on the investigation into the bank fraud. The other conditions refer to the Audiovisual Council and the Competition Council, which are to be subject to auditing.
