PAS mounts protest at Presidential Building, demands not to sign decrees

MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), alongside members and sympathizers of the party, protested in front of the Presidential Building in the morning of August 3, demanding that President Igor Dodon should not sign decrees to appoint corrupt judges to key posts in the judicial system, IPN reports.

“We came together here to transmit a very clear message to Igor Dodon: Don’t sign the decree to appoint such a discredited and corrupt judge as Vladislav Clima,” said the PAS MPs.

The party’s vice president, MP Sergiu Litvinenco stated that the country needs an independent justice system that would apply the law regardless of the subject of a dispute so that all those who broke the law answer for their deeds.

Igor Grosu, who heads the party’s parliamentary group, said the promotion of corrupt judges to posts in the judiciary system, can be part of a puzzle built by Igor Dodon to rig the elections.

The party’s vice president Mihai Popșoi reminded that Igor Dodon dismissed the Sandu Government namely for the reforms initiated in the justice sector. “Dodon fears a judge will come one day and will allow the prosecutor to knock at his door and ask him about the bag, his property, his luxurious lifestyle,” said the MP.

Attending the protest, PAS president Maia Sandu said Dodon builds justice for him and all the thieves and corrupt people. “We are here to tell him once again - Clima will not help him. The people realized that they are poor and their relatives have to leave the country because of the committed stealing,” stated the politician.

On July 28, the Superior Council of Magistracy elected Vladislav Clima as the president of the Chisinau City Appeals Court. President Igor Dodon is to confirm Clima to the post.
