The Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) submitted a denouncing statement against the president of the Democratic Party (PDM) Vlad Plahotniuc to the Prosecutor General’s Office, requesting this to hold Plahotniuc accountable for the usurpation of state power. PAS leader Maia Sandu said the Democratic leader controls all the powers in the state and this runs counter to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, while the authorities tolerate this, IPN reports.
Maia Sandu noted that the PDM, which gained 15% of the vote in the 2014 parliamentary elections and entered Parliament with 19 seats of 101, now holds a majority of seats after forcing MPs to defect from their parties to the PDM. Parliament is now an institution that adopts the laws imposed by Vlad Plahotniuc.
The PAS leader also said that Vlad Plahotniuc today also controls the executive power. All the Government decisions are agreed by Vlad Plahotniuc, while the Cabinet holds formal meetings to confirm what “the boss” indicates. “The judicial power is controlled by the same person. Through the agency of the Supreme Council of Magistracy controlled by the PDM, Vlad Plahotniuc manages to name all the obedient judges to posts,” stated Maia Sandu.
As to the Prosecutor General’s Office, she said this is a captured and corrupt institution that is politically controlled by Vlad Plahotniuc. “We came here to demand that this institution should fulfill its duties because the usurpers are not eternal and, when those who protect them now are held accountable for their abuses, those who do not take measures will also have to answer,” said the politician.
Maia Sandu reminded that the PAS submitted a similar denouncing statement against the President of Moldova Igor Dodon.
