The preliminary data of the Central Election Commission (CEC) show that the candidates of the Party of Action and Solidary (PAS) who ran in the mayoral elections of November 21 polled most of the votes in seven localities, IPN reports.
They won the elections in Ucrainca village of Căușeni district – Tamara Macovei, with 427 votes (80.72% of the ballot); in Hlinaia, Edineț – Tudor Ceban with 415 votes (55.18%); in Pîrlița, Fălești –Sergiu Neagu with 768 votes (77.65%); in Camenca, Glodeni – Ala Postolachi with 560 votes (70.00%); in Palanca, Ștefan Vodă – Dumitru Cozlovschi with 359 votes (53.50%).
The PAS candidates gained most of the votes in the first round of the mayoral elections in Bălceana village of Hâncești district – Aurelia Temciuc with 262 votes (46.70%), and in Cneazevca, Leova – Larisa Tomșa with 161 votes (45.09%). In these two villages, the mayor could not be elected by the first round and a runoff vote featuring the top two candidates will be held in two weeks there.
Runoffs will also take place in Opaci village of Căușeni district, Hârtop village of Cimișlia district and Cupcini town of Edineț district, where the largest number of votes was won by independent candidates Roman Pinteac (42.88% of the vote), Vitalie Caraja (37.64%) and, respectively, Ludmila Magu (36.11%). The elections in Călinești village of Fălești district were won by independent candidate Ala Procopciuc in the first round with 51.99%.
The candidate of Șor Party Alexandru Boiciuc won the mayoral elections in Ișcalău, Fălești with 609 votes (68.96%). The candidate of the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists Ruslan Bujorean won the elections in Ștefășnești, Ștefan Vodă with 271 votes (59.82%), while the candidate of the Democratic Party of Moldova Galina Uscatu won in Negurenii Vechi, Ungheni with 359 votes (53.34%).
In all the 15 localities, the elections can be validated. According to the information presented to CEC by the General Police Inspectorate, 37 cases of violation of the electoral legislation were recorded on election day, with 31 of these being reported in the Bălți electoral constituency. These refer to placing of electoral posters in prohibited places, reasonable suspicion of political campaigning and other actions that could hamper the electoral process. The materials are being examined for determining the circumstances of the reported cases and for taking appropriate decisions.
Under the Electoral Code, if none of the candidates gains at least half of the ballot, a runoff vote is held in two weeks and this features the two candidates who won most of the votes in the first round. Therefore, five villages and the municipality of Bălți will have a runoff vote.
