PAS candidate promises belt road to bypass center of Chisinau

Lilian Carp, the candidate for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau on behalf of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), said that each seventh or eighth vehicle in the capital city only transits Chisinau and the traffic is congested therefore. To relieve traffic congestion, a corridor should be built to enable transiting vehicles to bypass the center of the city, IPN reports.

In a news conference, the election contender said that mornings in Chisinau start with awful traffic jams and the people need to wake up earlier to get to work, to school or to kindergarten. Over the next four years, he and his team will concentrate their efforts on solving traffic-related problems so as to increase safety and to enable the citizens to reach the destination faster.

Lilian Carp promised to build a belt road from Industrială St along the streets Transnistriei, Milescu Spătaru, and Bucovinei, closer to Stăuceni, as this will allow bypassing the capital city, according to him.

He also proposes building a bridge over the Byk River and reconstructing a number of intersections by adding overground passages, for example on Dacia Blvd, near the Botanical Garden and at the intersection of Ismail St and Ștefan cel Mare Blvd.

The election contender considers the people need to be persuaded to abandon the personal vehicles and use public transport that should be comfortable and sufficient. For the purpose, new routes should be introduced to reach each quarter. Also, the distance between public transport stations should not be longer than 700-800 meters.

As it was decided by draw, Lilian Carp of the Party of Action and Solidarity will be next to No. 6 on the ballot.
