The faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) in the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) calls for convening an extraordinary meeting to discuss the situation regarding the payment of salaries of Chisinau teachers. PAS councillors insist that the meeting should hear the deputy mayor Angela Cutasevici and the head of the municipal finance directorate, Olesea Psenitchi, IPN reports.

"It is outrageous how the mayor general manipulates and plays with people's lives. This week, Ion Ceban came out with false information and intentionally created panic among teachers whom he is threatening to leave without salaries", PAS faction head Zinaida Popa told a press conference.

The PAS faction says that the Chisinau City Hall has enough unspent financial resources in the budget items for utilities, and the special-purpose transfers from the state budget, which finances more than 85% of the education spending, are sufficient. According to Zinaidei Popa, it is the responsibility and obligation of the City Hall to redistribute the budget savings, amounting to 164 million lei, to ensure the payment of salaries.

The PAS faction requests that the CMC meeting be convened for November 26 at 10.00.

Chisinau City Hall representatives have not yet reacted to PAS' statements.
