For the new local elections in Chisinau municipality, the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) are obligated to field a common candidate or they will be devoured separately, political analyst Victor Ciobanu stated in the talk show “Politics” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
According to him, if the two parties run separately in these elections, they will only favor the government’s candidate, who is Silvia Radu. There is yet place for negotiations to choose a common candidate of the forces of the right. “I think there is yet time, but not much as the campaign already started and the decision should be taken very swiftly,” said Victor Ciobanu.
Ex-MP Stela Jantuan said the extraparliamentary opposition parties PAS and PPPDA will bear the biggest responsibility in the new local elections because they are the result of the protest movement. Chisinau now needs a manager and this should be a person with appropriate managerial skills.
Analyst Alexei Tulbure said the story about the common candidate for the new local elections in Chisinau showed that the PAS and PPPDA do not really have experience of political cohabitation and coexistence. “They cannot get along with each other and do not have a well-planned mechanism for overcoming such situations. If such a mechanism does not appear, the two parties should think how to tailor their political road by themselves and how to cope by themselves in particular situations,” stated the analyst, noting that a candidate on behalf of the pro-European parties has all the chances of winning the elections in Chisinau as the conjuncture now favors this.
