PAS and PPPDA announce protests for October 1PAS and PPPDA announce protests for October 1

The leaders of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) described the answer to their request to offer the opposition an hour of airtime a week, provided by the administration  of the public TV channel Moldova 1, as unclear. As no satisfactory answer was given, the PAS and PPPDA intend to mount protests on October 1, 2017, IPN reports.

“Some vague promises are made, that we will be invited to particular programs, and they speak about the extraparliamentary opposition. We do not understand what the authors of this press release mean. We spoke about an hour of the opposition where the opposition parties with real popular support would be invited. We continue to wait for a clear answer,” stated Maia Sandu. The PAS leader noted they will continue to insist on this and the other demands included in the resolution that was adopted in the last protest, such as to publish the Kroll report, to punish those to blame for the embezzlement of banking funds and to abandon the mixed electoral system.

The PPPDA leader Andrei Nastase called on the young people of the country to continue to protest as their future is at stake. The next protest will be staged in front of the Gaudeamus Cinema on October 1. The protesters will then go on a march whose itinerary will be decided at the place.
