PAS: After unprecedented fraud, Socialists defend Shor's interests, not citizens' interests

"After the massive and unprecedented fraud, the Socialists chose to defend Shor's interests, not the interests of citizens," said MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity, who noted that from their Socialist colleagues they expected appropriate reactions about election fraud, about the dirty money coming from the Kremlin and Ilan Shor, but they chose to come up with accusations and attacks, including against the diaspora, IPN reports.

"The Socialists talk to us about unity, but they sow hatred and division, unfortunately. The Socialists talk about the people, but divide them into two, wanting the diaspora not to be part of the people. They want to deny the diaspora the right to vote – a fundamental vote for all citizens of the Republic of Moldova. We see that they started to fight fiercely with the citizens of the diaspora, not with the massive theft of votes, which they expected would bring them back to power. In the view of the Socialist colleagues, it is not the fault of Shor, who was about to sell our country, but the diaspora, which mobilized exemplarily and through honest voting, fair voting defended democracy in the country," the head of the PAS parliamentary group Doina Gherman, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, said in a briefing.

According to Doina Gherman, instead of appropriate reactions regarding the fraud, the Socialists are silent. "They chose to keep silent about the fact that their party was simply used as a political tool in a dirty game. We have been waiting for appropriate reactions regarding the lies and disinformation exported from a country where free elections are out of the question. Unfortunately, we see that the Socialists are not concerned with the state of the voters or with the financial-electoral pyramid that has been meticulously built by Shor. The law enforcement agencies are already dealing with this fact, and all those involved will be punished," said the head of the PAS group.

As for the Socialists’ accusations against the government, the MP said that she admires the authenticity of the tender, but equally strong democracy that Moldova has chosen. "I admire the people of the Republic of Moldova, who showed unprecedented mobilization. And we understand that it is difficult for them to realize that Moldova was stronger than they expected and the people put them in front of a fait accompli because Moldova has chosen the path of peace and will not deviate again," stated Doina Gherman.

The statements were made after the Socialists announced that they will challenge the results of the presidential election due to "multiple violations".
