Party “The Right” says National Bank governor resigned too late

The Party “The Right”, which is to be created by an initiative group led by ex-MP Ana Gutu, considers the National Bank governor Dorin Dragutanu tendered his resignation too late as this should have happened at least one year ago, when information about the laundering of money from Russia through Moldovan banks was made public, IPN reports.

In a communique, the party’s team says the administration of the central bank in the person or the governor and vice governors had access in real time to all the transactions in the banking system and it was their duty to warn the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center and the Ministry of the Interior when dubious capital moves were detected.

The party calls on Parliament to constitute a Board from financial-banking experts invited from the U.S. and the EU, including Romania, to head the National Bank and manage the crisis in the financial-banking sector so as to gain credibility before the international financing organizations, such as the IMF, the World Bank and the EBRD.

“The Right” insists on instituting public proceedings to elucidate the stealing of the billion and to punish those to blame and the administration of the central bank, which allowed the situation in the financial-banking system to worsen.
