Party of Regions is on the top according to preliminary data of parliamentary elections in Ukraine
The Party of Regions, led by ex-prime minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovichi, got the majority of votes at parliamentary elections in Ukraine, according to preliminary data presented by the Central Electoral Commission of Kiev at 9:40a.m.
After counting about 11% of results, it was set the Regions Party got 24.65%. This group is followed by the Bloc of Yulia Timoshenko, which got almost 24%, pro-presidential Bloc Nasha Ukraina – 17.37%. Other 3 formations got the threshold of 3% –Socialist Party with about 8%, Communist Party with 3.33% and Popular Bloc of Litvin with 3%.
Regions Part of Russian orientation is supported more by the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine, and the Bloc of Yulia Timoshenko and Nasha Ukraina by western part.
According to preliminary data, the participation rate at the elections was 67.1%.
According to exit-poll data presented yesterday evening, Party of Regions got 31%, Bloc of Yulia Timoshenko about 24%, Nasha Ukraina - 15.5%.
In Moldova, elections to the Supreme Rada of Ukraine were held at the headquarters of the Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau and Balti. Representatives of the Embassy said that data on the participation of Ukrainian citizens of Moldova at the scrutiny would be announced on Monday.
