Party for Nation and Country starts election campaign

The Party for Nation and Country (PPNT) headed by Nicolae Utica officially began its election campaign for the parliamentary elections on November 12. In a news conference at IPN, members of the party presented their electoral platform, which centers on the education reform, justice sector reform, health reform, development of industry and restoration of the country’s territorial integrity, IPN reports.

“The latest polls show that the prospects of the pro-European parties are not so bright not because of the Moldovan people, but because of the ruling parties,” stated Nicolae Utica. He accused the leaders of the ruling parties of dealing with personal and group problems, not the country’s problems. “We decided to campaign in order to inform the people that there are forces that can do good things in Moldova and will do them,” he stated.

Nicolae Utica noted that the justice secretor reform is one of the PPNT’s priories, for which not funds, but rather human resources are needed and Moldova has these resources. Lawyer Vitalie Taulean presented the key points of the party’s platform in this field: constitution of a special commission for examining illegal court decisions and sentences, re-attestation of the judges and prosecutors, elimination of incompetent and corrupt persons from the system, and creation of an independent institution for combating offenses committed by judges. “We must not pay €60 million for a strategy for reforming the prosecution service. Give us €100,000 and we will work out 10 strategies,” said lawyer Ilie Rotaru.

In the healthcare sector, the PPNT intends to reduce the health insurance contribution, to improve the quality of the medical services and to make sure that the prices of drugs are regulated by the Government.

Sergiu Arapu, vice director of the Lyceum “Toader Bubuiog” of Bubuieci village of Chisinau municipality, said the PPNT’s priorities in education are: allocation of 7% of the GDP for education, professional motivation of teachers by decent salaries and by a viable continuous professional training system, modification of the curriculum so as to avoid burdening the students and attract investments to the school infrastructure. “The chronic lack of funds during 23 years resulted in schools affected by mold, with leaking roofs and without sanitary facilities,” he said.

At economic level, manager Alexandru Banari said the party wants to develop the agroindustrial sector and to open agrifood sorting, packing and storing factories. A system will be created to regulate the production volume and the lowest prices of strategic products on the home market.

As to the foreign policy, the Party for Nation and Country is for Moldova joining the European Union and for the Russian troops to be withdrawn from the Transnistria region so that the conflict could be solved peacefully with the assistance of world powers.

Nicolae Utica called on the people to vote for the pro-European parties, especially the extraparliamentary ones, as the ruling parties discredited themselves by acts of corruption and scandals.
