The former political party European Action Movement became the political party Save Bessarabia Union (USB) and former Liberal Valeriu Munteanu was elected president of the new party that focuses on Moldova’s reunion with Romania. The given decisions were taken in the extraordinary congress of the former European Action Movement that was held on July 21, IPN reports.
Valeriu Munteanu was the only candidate proposed for the post. Before being elected, he said that 28 years have passed since Moldova proclaimed its independence, but no salvation solution could be found in the period. All the regimes until now perpetuated economic failure, organized theft of public and private property, wrongdoings and poverty. The Republic of Moldova cannot cope on its own revenues and is like a sick person who receives assistance from the state.
According to the new leader of the USB, Moldovan justice turned into a tool of offenders and the people cannot purchase what they want as they have low incomes. Moldova is an ‘exhausted’ state and the entry into the EU is not possible as no one invited us there. “The reunion is neither of the left nor of the right. It is of everyone. Our struggle for justice and against the thieves who impoverished the Moldovans will be fought till the end,” stated Valeriu Munteanu.
Ilie Crețu, who also formed part of the Liberal Party, was elected secretary general of the USB. He said the party aims to unite the people and by its activity will contribute to developing the party with all its experience. “We should be a team that knows how to achieve objectives, the key of which is to accomplish the union. We should be united, protect the borders and be ready to save Bessarabia,” stated Ilie Crețu.
Alexandru Bostan, a member of the new party, noted that according to the new statutes of the party the Union means bringing together those who believe that Bessarabia is Romania. Salivation means signaling that we are at a moment when our Romanian and European existence is doubted. The solution is to put to good use the young and active energies that can still free Bessarabia from marasmus and irrelevance,” he stated.
The party’s anthem is the song “Let it revive” of the Romanian band “Phoenix Bird”.
The congress of the new party will be soon convened to choose the vice presidents.
