'Partnership for Children' supports first community-based projects
The “Partnership for Children” Initiative will offer financial support to nine projects that aim to contribute to a better life for children. Each of the nine selected projects will benefit from financing ranging from 37,000 to 57,000 lei, Info-Prim Neo learned at a news conference held on Wednesday to launch the selected projects.
The news conference was attended by the members of the initiative, whose author is Liliana Palihovici, the chairwoman of the parliamentary commission for social protection and family.
“We chose the projects that aim to address the most pressing issues of the children”, said Liliana Palihovici. The projects will include activities to enhance libraries, build or renovate leisure areas, playgrounds and sports grounds, create a special room for children with disabilities, etc. The beneficiary communities are the villages of Hirova (Calarasi district), Balanul Nou (Riscani), Zgurita (Drochia), Tiganca (Cantemir), Talmaza (Stefan Voda), Stolniceni (Hincesti), and the town of Basarabeasca.
Iurie Cheptanari, a beneficiary from Stefan Voda, said his winning project will allow 25 children with disabilities to beenfit from advanced information and development courses.
Orange Moldova general director Ludmila Climoc, one of the partners, said: “We are pleased with the fundraising results of this partnership and I hope the collected money will be used efficiently for the winners' objectives”.
Boris Gilca, Assistant Representative of UNFPA in Moldova, which is also partner, also saluted the public-private partnership for the chidren's sake, recalling that UNFPA has always supported information activities destined for the children, as these are crucial moments for the development of a healthy generation.
“UNICEF encourages private sector involvement worldwide in social initiatives that make children's lives better. Social solidarity is very important to ensure that each child enjoys equal chances of living and development”, said Sandie Blanchet,ad-interim UNICEF Representative in Moldova.
The Partnership for Children, a novel action for the Republic of Moldova, has been initiated by the Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee for Social Protection, Health and Family, together with Orange Moldova, UNICEF and UNFPA.
