Partnership for Children collects money for projects intended for children
The Partnership for Children Project launched a campaign to raise money for projects designed for children. At the first stage, the money can be donated through empty SMS messages sent to the short number 7474. One SMS costs 8 lei, VAT included, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the partners of the project.
Liliana Palihovici, chairwoman of the parliamentary commission for social protection, health and family, said steps are taken to encourage the local public authorities, the initiative groups and the nongovernmental organizations to launch projects for children, while the private sector – to support them. “If we are united, we will manage to make our children's lives better. We want the children in Moldova to be healthy and live in a country with prospects,” said the MP.
UNICEF Representative in Moldova Alexandra Yuster said the investment in children and their development is the most profitable as it is investment in the country's future.
Boris Galca, Deputy UNFPA Representative in Moldova, said all the projects must guarantee a better life for the children as part of the family. “Unfortunately, we have many children who remained at home without supervision as their parents went to work abroad. We need initiatives that will protect the family and the child and will help the children who remained without parental care,” he said.
The Partnership for Children is an initiative implemented by the parliamentary commission for social protection, health and family, UNICEF and UNFPA. Businessmen are invited to support this initiative, while the initiative groups and the local authorities to devise community development projects to improve the quality of life for children. The project proposals can be submitted to East Europe Foundation in Chisinau by July 1. They will be examined by July 15. The number of projects that will be financed depends on the sum that will be collected during the campaign.
