UNFPA Moldova and Bayer will cooperate to promote the population’s rights to family planning and, implicitly, to modern methods of contraception. There will also be promoted the rights to active and healthy aging, to mental health and wellbeing, including through the development of inclusive informative materials adjusted to the needs of different groups of people. The two partners signed a cooperation agreement in healthcare and sexual and reproductive rights of the population.
In a press release, UNFPA Moldova says that Bayer, alongside the other partners of the national economic community, joins in the campaigns developed by UNFPA Moldova and its partners, such as “Plan your Life as you Want” and “Digital Skills Connect Generation”. By this agreement, UNFPA Moldova and its partner from the business community affirmed the commitment to unite their know-how and resources for developing communication activities that would support the implementation of governmental policies nationwide in the announced areas.
Nigina Abaszada, UNFPA Moldova Resident Representative, said this partnership aims to extend the people’s access to information that saves lives, contributing to better health for everyone. “Family planning, implicitly, the access to contraceptives, is a right of each person, an instrument that enables to enjoy sexuality without deviating from the chosen life scenario. In the absence of this planning, in the absence of protection from unwanted pregnancy and also from sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV, many women, many men and many young people have to give up their potential, studies, jobs and other plans so as to follow the path of a life that took shape suddenly, without being the choice of the person,” stated Nigina Abaszada.
Bayer will support the designing and promotion of informative materials about sexual and reproductive health intended for specialists and the general population. The company will co-participate in activities aimed at assisting older persons to manage the own health needs, using innovatory online learning channels and instruments.
Bayer, in the person of executive manager Elena Armașu, underlined the importance of the private sector’s participation in this initiative with a social impact. “Bayer serves the basic human needs: health and food. In all the activities, we are guided by our goal “Science for a Better Life”, while our contribution for society includes prevention and treatment of disease, encouragement of care for own health, production of a sufficient quantity of food for everyone, showing respect for the natural resources of our planet,” stated Elena Armașu.
A leader in modern contraception and in integrated solutions for agriculture, Bayer is a strategic partner of UNFPA globally, following consistently its vision “Health for all, Hunger for none”.
