The partners of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects put on the list of works and services of national public interest will be entitled to the refund of the VAT on capital expenditure/investments within the given projects as of January 1, 2018, IPN reports.

The VAT will be refunded in the way agreed by the Government, within 45 days of the submission of the application. This will be refunded only to the subject that possesses a VAT refund decision. The VAT refund can be used to clear outstanding debts to the national public budget or to pay future obligations to the budget, or will be transferred to the bank account of the taxpayers, at their request.

According to the website of the Public Property Agency, nine Public-Private Partnership projects of national interest are now implemented in Moldova. Among these are: the project to concede the assets of the Chisinau International Airport, with the private partner Avia Invest pledging to invest US$244.2m; the project to modernize the Dialysis Service, and the project to concede the works to geologically exploit hydrocarbons on Moldova’s territory.
