Parties to get 1.11 leu for each vote garnered in legislative elections

The Central Election Commission at its meeting today has approved a scheme of rewarding political parties with state budget money for their performance in the 2014 legislative elections and in the 2015 general local elections, IPN reports.

CEC chairperson Alina Russu announced that the participating parties will monthly get 1.11 leu for each vote received in the 2014 elections and 0.47 leu for each vote in the 2015 elections. Independent candidates won't get any subventions.

In the case of electoral blocs, the money will be distributed according to the initial arrangements as set out in the respective founding documents; and in the absence of such preliminary arrangements, according to the number of seats in Parliament won by each component party.

The state subventions will be transferred monthly by the Central Election Commission to a bank account specifically created for this purpose by the receiving party. No other transfers are allowed to that account. Also, this money may not be transferred to any other account, except for a special campaign fund account created just for this purpose in the electoral period.
