The social benefit for elderly people with an insurance period shorter than 15 years, who cannot get an old-age pension, will rise by 150% as of January 1, 2020. Until now these persons received by 215.87 lei a month, but from next year this allowance will be 539.67 lei a month, IPN reports, quoting the National House of Social Insurance.

The monthly social benefit for persons will disabilities will double and will range from 323.80 lei to 647.60 lei, depending on the type of disability.

To benefit from higher allowances, one does not need to submit additional documents.

According to the House, 9,046 elderly people with an insurance period shorter than 15 years and 12,672 persons with different types of disability will benefit from higher state social benefit as from January 1, 2020.
