Participants in Rubicon met in central square of Chisinau

The participants in the ultramarathon relay Rubicon, organized by the Public Association “Sporter”, were met in the Great National Assembly Square on February 12. The race is held between February 11 and 13 and will last for 49 hours and 52 minutes, being divided into day and night stages, IPN reports.

“It is great when we can combine forces and be together. The language and nationality do not matter. What matters is the common goal, which is to build a better society that would develop from intellectual viewpoint and also from physical viewpoint,” stated the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban.

The Chisinau City Hall offered warm lunches to the participants. The runners were met by a brass band, while a group of dancers danced a Romanian round dance.

“I have always supported cultural and sports events. We want to grow a healthy, sporting generation and, for the purpose, we invest a lot and cooperate with sports organizations. Together we grow a healthy society from all viewpoints,” said the mayor.

During three days, the participants run from the south to the north of the country, through the districts of Taraclia, Comrat, Basarabeasca, Cimișlia, Ialoveni, Chisinau, Strășeni, Călărași, Telenești, Sângerei, Bălți, Drochia, Dondușeni, and Ocnița.
