Participants in Chernobyl cleanup to receive financial assistance

The persons who took part in the Chernobyl accident cleanup and the families of those who died as a result of that disaster will be provided by 500 lei in financial assistance, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, the allocations will be distributed by the executive bodies of the national population support fund through the agency of the local offices of Banca de Economii or the subdivisions of Moldova’s Post Office, based on a list compiled by the local public authorities. An estimated 2,565 persons will benefit from such assistance. The Chernobyl accident happened on April 26, 1986. More than 600,000 persons from the ex-Soviet area took part in the disaster cleanup.
