Participants in Chernobyl clean-up to receive compensations
Participants in the clean-up of the consequences of Chernobyl disaster will receive lump-sum compensations on the 25th anniversary of the catastrophe, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, each of the participants will receive 500 lei from the Republican Fund for Social Support of People, according to lists prepared by the local administration.
The number of beneficiaries is estimated at 2,300. The money will be offered at the local institutions of social support.
The explosion of the fourth reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine happened in April 26, 1986. About 600,000 people from many countries, including 3500 Moldovans, were involved in fighting the consequences of the disaster.
On 25 years since the catastrophe, a commemorative march and meeting will take place in Chisinau.
