Participants in campaign for referendum will weekly submit financial reports to CEC

The participants in the campaign preceding the constitutional referendum of September 5 will have to weekly lodge financial report to the Central Election Commission. Under the regulations approved by the Commission, the political parties will open a bank account titled “Electoral Fund” to which the parties, private individuals and legal entities will be able to transfer money. The parties cannot be yet financed by other states, international organizations, foreign capital enterprises, state-run companies, noncommercial organizations, trade unions, charities and religious organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports. The party can be excluded from the electoral race if it breaks these rules. Every electoral participant will propose by a person who will monitor the use of money. The money into the Electoral Fund will be transferred only with the party’s consent. So far, the Central Election Commission has registered nine parties as participants in the campaign for the September 5 referendum to modify the procedure for electing the head of state. These are: the Democratic Party (PDM), the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance (AMN), the Party of Communists (PCRM), the “Ravnopravie” Movement, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), the Liberal Party (PL), the “European Action” Movement (MAE), the Christian Democratic People's Party (PPCD), and the Republican People's Party (PPR). The cap on the electoral expenses of the parties and sociopolitical organizations registered as participants in the campaign is 7.5 million lei.
