Part of Sprancenoaia St in Telecentru quarter will be renamed Lech Kaczynski
A part of the street Sprancenoaia of Chisinau's Telecentru quarter, from Hancesti St to Drumul Viilor St, will bear the name of the late Polish President Lech Kaczynski. The decision was made at the May 13 meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), Info-Prim Neo reports.
The urbonymic and toponymic commission voted unanimously in favor of renaming that part of Sprancenoaia St, said deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu.
The initiative to name a street in Chisinau after the Polish President was put forward by the faction of the Liberal Democratic Party in the CMC in April, following the tragic plane crash that killed Lech Kaczynski, his wife and the other 96 members of the Polish delegation that was going to Smolensk to take part in the commemoration of the Katyn massacre.
At the same meeting, the Council decided to build Nicolae Testemitanu's bust, place a commemorative plaque “Zinaida Circov” at 23 Calea Iesilor St and another one “Vasile Coroban” at 6/2 Academiei St, and to give the primary school No. 12 situated at 2/4 Petru Zadnipru St the name of Anatol Popovich.
