Parliament’s autumn session ends Dec. 29

The autumn session of the legislative body will end on December 29, 2023. This is provided in a draft decision that is to be considered by Parliament, IPN reports.

The first plenary sitting of the autumn session was held on September 9, 2023. Then, Speaker Igor Grosu said that energy security, advancing of the justice sector reforms and corruption fighting, economic development of the country and opening of new jobs, modernization of infrastructure and improvement of quality of life in Moldova’s localities were high on the list of legislative priorities. Also, continuing parliamentary control over the implementation of the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement was an important mission of Parliament for the autumn session and emphasis was to be placed on advancement in the process of harmonizing the national legislation with the European Union’s legislation.

Parliament has two ordinary sessions a year. The spring session begins in February and ends in July. The autumn session starts in September and closes in December. If the legislature is not in an ordinary session, it may meet in an extraordinary or special session at the request of the President, Parliament Speaker or 1/3 of the MPs.
