Parliamentary session starts with calls for wisdom and courage
The spring-summer session of Parliament began with calls for courage, wisdom and willpower. On the other hand, unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea and the group of Socialists called on the ruling alliance to leave the interests and hypocrisy aside and take all the measures needed to unlock the political crisis and elect the head of state. The communist parliamentary group boycotted the sitting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The leader of the Liberal-Democratic group Valeriu Strelet said that despite the propagandistic speculations of some of the political forces, the AEI worked and continues to work and adopted important laws that helped improve the people’s lives. According to Strelet, in spite of the media hysteria, society started to get used and to accept the plurality of opinion. “We now must pass such important laws as the Insolvency Law, the Law on Special Destination Arms, and others,” he stated, adding that the election of the President is a very important objective.
The head of the Democratic group Dumitru Diacov said it was for the first time that the session was opened in the absence of an important faction. “We surely must adopt laws on the economy and the fight against corruption, but if the current legislature does not solve an important problem, the others are just demagogy. Unfortunately, the opposition is not with us and does not think what we can do to elect the head of state,” he stated.
The Liberal Party’s deputy head Corina Fusu said that her party is sure that the election of the President will stimulate the reform process. “We know that our role as lawmakers is to identity a solution to ensure the continuity of the country modernization process,” she stressed.
The member of the group of Socialists Igor Dodon said that this session can be the last as the MPs must choose what they want – a President or early parliamentary elections. “The people and the foreign partners have their eyes on us. They are sick and tired of hypocrisy. An apolitical candidate for the presidency must be found as soon as possible. There is no room for personal ambitions,” said Igor Dodon.
Mihai Godea said this session will decide the political fate of the ruling alliance. The next weeks will show if presidential elections or early parliamentary elections will be held.
The first sitting of the spring-summer session was attended by 61 of the 101 MPs.
