Political commentators have differing opinions about the performance of the parliamentary opposition in the plenary sitting in which the Gavrilița Government obtained a vote of confidence. Some of the experts say the performance of the PCRM-PSRM Bloc was passive as the political left is in a state of confusion, while other experts consider the opposition showed political maturity as it realizes the ratio of forces in the legislature, IPN reports.
According to political commentator Anatol Țăranu, yesterday’s sitting of Parliament revealed a weak and unprepared opposition.
“When the opposition does not level criticism, including at the nominal composition of the Government, this means the opposition admits that this Government meets the expectations of society and is a professional one. The opposition is demoralized. Voronin spoke about senseless things from the rostrum. The opposition’s weakness should be compensated by civil society, by political commentators. The government program sounded nice, but I remain skeptical as to the implementation of this program,” Anatol Țăranu stated in a special edition of the public TV channel Moldova 1.
On the other, political commentator Cornel Ciurea said the opposition acted correctly, avoiding criticizing the new Government excessively as it waits for the executive to make mistakes so as to come with harsher reactions.
“An explanation for the passiveness of the opposition is the current summer period. However, the political struggles will not stop together with the confirmation of the Government. In autumn, the opposition will become more combative. There is no use criticizing the Government now as the big problems will appear soon and the opposition will then not miss the chance of criticizing this Government,” stated Cornel Ciurea.
Political researcher Dionis Cenușa noted the current pandemic and economic crises are an occasion for reconciliation between the opposition and the government so that all the MPs support particular bills.
“It is an opposition that realizes the ratio of forces in the new Parliament. It is rather a pragmatic opposition that does not have instruments to prevent the naming of the new Government. It is a possibility for constructive opposition as the government program is a realistic one and contains promises made by the opposition, including the rise in the minimum pension. There are many common points in the agenda of the opposition and the government. That’s why it is useless to stage attacks now, at the start of the Government’s mandate,” stated Dionis Cenușa.
The Gavrilița Government was confirmed by the votes of 61 MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity.
