Democratic MP Sergiu Sarbu said that he registered with the President’s chancellery a statement of the absolute parliamentary majority consisting of 55 MPs by which the deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip is suggested for the post of Prime Minister, IPN reports.
“I express my hope that President Timofti will show wisdom and will obey the Constitution,” the lawmaker wrote on a social networking site.
It should be noted that President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree by which he nominated the chief of the President’s staff Ion Paduraru for the premiership. The Democratic Party during two days insisted on the nomination of the party’s first deputy chairman Vlad Plahotniuc for this post, but this candidate was rejected by the head of state for the reason that he does not meet the integrity criteria.
