Parliamentary hearings to be held on investigation into banking fraud

Hearings on the investigation of the banking fraud will be held during the October 4 meeting of Parliament at the suggestion of the Socialist group. The governor of the National Bank of Moldova and the managers of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Anticorruption Center will be invited to the hearings, IPN reports.

Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea said four years have passed since the “theft of the century” and the stolen billions already form part of the public debt, as the government decided. After four years, the people should know where those money is. The Kroll 1 and Kroll 2 investigations were performed at the people’s expense, but the results of the second investigation haven’t been yet published.

Ștefan Creangă, of the European People’s Parliamentary Group, said the commission on economy, budget and finance initially in April asked that the Kroll 2 report should be presented to each MP, but the central bank hasn’t implemented the commission’s decision.

The Liberal and Liberal-Democratic MPs asked to introduce the initiative to create a commission of inquiry into the expulsion of seven Turkish citizens of the Theoretical Lyceum “Orizont” in the agenda. The proposal was yet short of votes. The Liberals also asked to question the administration of the Migration and Asylum Bureau and the Security and Intelligence Service, but this proposal wasn’t supported either, as wasn’t the Liberal MPs’ request to question minister of health, labor and social protection on the large number of cases of measles.

The Socialists weren’t supported by the parliamentary majority when they suggested questioning the minister of economy and infrastructure and the director general of the National Agency for Energy Regulation.
