Parliamentary hearings on Chisinau Arena fail

The hearings concerning the situation at the sports complex Chisinau Arena, which were included in the agenda of the March 4 meeting of the legislature, could not be held as the officials who were to report in Parliament are self-isolating, IPN reports.

MP Alexandru Slusari, who asked to question representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure about the Arena, insisted that the hearings should be held. “When there is a scheme of corruption, they invoke self-isolation. The materials with which I was furnished show that since 2017, a group consisting of identified or non-identified persons, representatives of political parties, local and central public administration bodies, legal entities with different forms of organization and private individuals, camouflaging the real intention by important investment activities in infrastructure, have planned the appropriation scheme,” stated the MP.

According to him, it’s not clear if the 59 ha of land that were pledged and re-pledged belong to the state. The situation is critical also because despite all these circumstances, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure seeks investments.

Parliamentary hearings on the situation at the Chisinau Arena were initially requested on February 11.
