Parliamentary hearings centering on justice sector

The progress made and shortcomings witnessed in the process of implementing the laws concerning the justice sector reform will be examined by the legislative body in parliamentary hearings on October 13, IPN reports. The initiative was put forward by Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu.

According to the legislature’s press service, the hearings will focus on the implementation of the justice sector reform strategy for 2011-2016, the laws on the prosecution service reform adopted by Parliament and the package of laws on integrity.

Expert of the Basel Institute on Governance of Switzerland Pedro Gomes Prereira will present the conclusions and recommendations of an analytical study of the mechanisms of recovering and confiscating assets in Moldova. In this connection, legislative initiatives on the recovery of property involved in infractions, thought up by a working groups consisting of experts of civil society and representatives of the National Anticorruption Center based on the recommendations of the study, will be submitted to Parliament for consideration.
