Parliamentary Council for European Integration meets again

The Parliamentary Council for European Integration had a new meeting on May 25. In the meeting, it was noted that thematic working groups will be set up to examine how the measures stipulated in the action plan for implementing the Association Agreement with the EU are being carried out, IPN reports.

Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu said that six of the 15 measures that were to be carried out in March-April were fully implemented. Information about the examination of the priority draft laws was presented by the heads of the parliamentary commissions.

Andrian Candu stated that specialized working groups will be constituted. He reminded that the new website of Parliament is almost ready. Together with technicians, they will examine the possibility of integrating an institutional communication platform centering on the European integration.

Minister of Justice Vladimir Cebotari said in Parliament there are now seven bills referring to the justice sector that are waiting to be adopted in the first reading, while 12 bills – in the second reading. When these bills are passed, the justice sector reform strategy will be almost completed.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniela Morari said the EU – Moldova Association Agreement is to fully take effect on July 1. A new association agenda will be adopted then as the old one expires. Based on the new agenda, a new plan of action for implementing the accord will be worked out.

The Parliamentary Council for European Integration was created by the Parliament’s Standing Bureau as a mechanism for exercising parliamentary control on the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU.
