Parliamentary commission to investigate privatization of public property

A parliamentary commission will probe the privatization and concession of public property starting with 2013, IPN reports.

According to one of the authors of the initiative, MP Sergiu Litvinenko, an investigation is needed to determine the correctness of the privatization transactions performed in the recent past. These transactions should be based on economic reasons and should be conducted in accordance with the law.

Among the privatization transactions that will be analyzed are those concerning Banca de Economii, the Chisinau International Airport, tobacco company Tutun CTC, Bus Terminals etc. The bill authors suspect the public interest was neglected in favor of private and group interests.

The commission consists of seven persons, namely: Socialist MPs Vlad Batrîncea and Petru Burduja, Democrats Nicolae Ciubuc and Igor Vremea, ACUM PAS MP Radu Marian and ACUM DA MP Igor Munteanu. The Shor Party is to also propose a candidate, but its MPs didn’t attend the June 18 sitting of Parliament.
