Parliamentary and governmental delegations to travel to Bucharest March 27

In the solemn meeting that will be held in Bucharest on March 27 to celebrate the centenary of the union, the Republic of Moldova will be represented by a parliamentary delegation and a governmental one. Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu, who will lead the legislature’s delegation, said he will give a speech in the meeting, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, the Speaker stated that the parliamentary delegation consists of representatives of parties that expressed interest in taking part in the event. Among these are MPs of the Democratic Party, the European People’s Party and the Liberal Democratic Party, not yet of the Liberal Party. “Regrettably, our colleagues from the Liberal Party refused to take part at the invitation of our colleagues from the Parliament of Romania and we didn’t understand why,” said Andrian Candu.

He also said he will deliver a speech in the solemn meeting, alongside the President of Romania, the chairpersons of the two chambers of the Romanian legislative body, the Prime Minister and Princess Margareta. The meeting will also be attended by a governmental delegation.

Asked why the meeting wasn’t held in Chisinau, Andrian Candu said there are a number of reasons, related to infrastructure and logistics, but the electoral context was also taken into account.
